Gold Squad Inc. ("Gold Squad," "we," "us," or "our"), incorporated under the laws of the Province of Alberta, Canada, operates The GS Crypto Investor Group (the "Service"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and what rights you have with respect to it. It applies to all members and visitors who interact with the Service in any way.

This Policy is governed by Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act, SA 2003, c P-6.5 ("PIPA") and, where applicable, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, SC 2000, c 5 ("PIPEDA"). Where PIPA and PIPEDA differ, we apply the standard most protective of your rights.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

When you register for membership, communicate with us, or use the Service, we may collect the following categories of personal information:

  • Identity Information: Full name, username or display name.
  • Contact Information: Email address, and optionally a phone number if provided.
  • Billing and Payment Information: Billing address, and payment method details processed through our third-party payment processor. We do not store full credit card numbers, CVV codes, or banking credentials on our systems.
  • Account Credentials: Username and encrypted password.
  • Community Content: Posts, messages, questions, comments, and other content you submit within the community platform.
  • Communications: Emails, support requests, and correspondence you send to us.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you access the Service, certain technical data may be collected automatically:

  • Device and Technical Data: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device identifiers, and screen resolution.
  • Usage Data: Pages or content viewed, features accessed, time spent on the Service, and referring URLs.
  • Cookies and Similar Technologies: We and our third-party service providers may use cookies, pixels, and similar tracking technologies to maintain session state, analyze usage, and improve the Service. You may control cookie settings through your browser; however, disabling cookies may affect functionality.

1.3 Information from Third-Party Platforms

The Service may operate on or integrate with third-party platforms (such as Discord, Telegram, Skool, or similar). If you interact with the Service through those platforms, information you have made available on those platforms may be accessible to us in accordance with those platforms' own privacy policies. We encourage you to review the privacy practices of any third-party platform you use in connection with the Service.

1.4 Information We Do Not Collect

We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information such as government-issued identification numbers, medical or health information, racial or ethnic origin, or biometric data. Please do not submit such information through the Service.

2. How We Use Your Information

We collect and use your personal information only for purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate given the circumstances, consistent with PIPA Section 11. Specifically, we use your information to:

  • Provide and Administer the Service: Process your membership registration, manage your account, process payments, and deliver the features and content of The GS Crypto Investor Group.
  • Communicate With You: Send membership confirmations, receipts, service updates, policy changes, and responses to your inquiries.
  • Send Marketing Communications: With your consent (or as otherwise permitted by law), send information about new features, offers, or community updates. You may withdraw consent at any time.
  • Enforce Our Terms and Policies: Detect, investigate, and address violations of our Terms of Service, fraudulent activity, or illegal conduct.
  • Improve the Service: Analyze usage patterns and member feedback to improve features, content, and the overall member experience.
  • Legal Compliance: Meet our obligations under applicable Alberta and Canadian laws, respond to lawful requests from government authorities, and protect the legal rights of Gold Squad Inc.

We will not use your personal information for purposes materially different from those described above without obtaining your consent or as otherwise required or permitted by law.

3. Legal Basis for Processing

Under PIPA, we are required to identify the purpose for collecting personal information before or at the time of collection, and to obtain your consent except where an exception applies. We collect and use your personal information on the following bases:

  • Contractual Necessity: Processing required to fulfill your membership agreement and deliver the Service.
  • Consent: Where you have expressly consented, including for marketing communications.
  • Legitimate Interests: Where we have a legitimate business interest that does not override your privacy rights, such as fraud prevention, security, and improving the Service.
  • Legal Obligation: Where processing is necessary to comply with applicable law.

You may withdraw consent for any consent-based processing at any time by contacting us as described in Section 10. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out prior to withdrawal.

4. Sharing and Disclosure of Personal Information

4.1 We Do Not Sell Your Data

Gold Squad Inc. does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their own marketing or commercial purposes.

4.2 Service Providers

We share personal information with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating the Service. These providers are contractually required to use your information only to provide services to us and in a manner consistent with this Policy. Categories of service providers include:

  • Payment Processors: To securely process membership fees and billing (e.g., Stripe or similar processors operating under PCI-DSS standards).
  • Community Platform Providers: Third-party platforms on which the community operates (e.g., Discord, Skool, Telegram).
  • Email and Communication Tools: Providers used to send transactional and marketing emails.
  • Analytics Providers: Tools that help us understand Service usage in aggregate or pseudonymous form.
  • Cloud Hosting and Infrastructure: Providers that host our systems and data.

4.3 Legal Disclosures

We may disclose your personal information without your consent where required or permitted by law, including: (a) in response to a lawful court order, subpoena, or government request; (b) to protect the safety of any person; (c) to prevent or investigate fraud or illegal activity; or (d) as otherwise required by applicable Canadian or Alberta law.

4.4 Business Transfers

If Gold Squad Inc. undergoes a merger, acquisition, corporate restructuring, or sale of assets, your personal information may be transferred to a successor entity. We will provide notice of such a transfer and your rights in connection with it, as required by applicable law.

4.5 Aggregated and De-Identified Data

We may share aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you, for business and analytical purposes, without restriction.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

In general, active member account information is retained for the duration of your membership. Following cancellation or termination, we retain information as required by law and for a reasonable period to address any outstanding obligations or disputes, typically not exceeding seven (7) years for financial records in accordance with Canadian tax and accounting standards.

Community content you have posted may remain visible in the platform after account termination subject to the platform's own policies. Contact us if you wish to request deletion of specific content.

6. Data Security

Gold Squad Inc. implements commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These include:

  • Encryption: Transmission of sensitive data over encrypted connections (TLS/SSL).
  • Access Controls: Limiting access to personal information to personnel who require it to perform their functions.
  • Payment Security: Payment card data is handled by PCI-DSS compliant third-party processors. We do not store raw payment card data.
  • Breach Response: Procedures to detect, investigate, and notify affected individuals and regulators of privacy breaches as required under PIPA.

No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we take your privacy seriously and use reasonable measures to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. You provide information to us at your own risk.

In the event of a breach of security safeguards that creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you as required by PIPA and applicable regulations.

7. Cross-Border Data Transfers

Gold Squad Inc. is based in Alberta, Canada. Some of our service providers, including payment processors, cloud infrastructure providers, and community platform operators, may store or process your personal information in countries outside of Canada, including the United States.

When personal information is transferred outside of Canada, it may be subject to the laws of the destination country, which may differ from Canadian privacy laws. We take reasonable steps to ensure that cross-border transfers are made to recipients who provide a comparable level of protection, through contractual obligations or other appropriate mechanisms.

By using the Service, you acknowledge that your personal information may be processed outside of Canada.

8. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

8.1 What We Use

We and our third-party providers may use cookies (small text files placed on your device), web beacons, pixels, and similar technologies to operate and improve the Service, remember your preferences, analyze traffic, and in some cases deliver relevant communications.

8.2 Types of Cookies

  • Essential Cookies: Required for the Service to function. Cannot be disabled without affecting core functionality.
  • Analytical Cookies: Help us understand how members use the Service in aggregate, so we can improve it.
  • Marketing Cookies: May be used by third-party platforms to deliver relevant communications. These are subject to those platforms' policies.

8.3 Your Choices

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect your experience of the Service. Where required by law, we will seek your consent before placing non-essential cookies.

9. Your Privacy Rights

Under PIPA, you have the following rights with respect to your personal information held by Gold Squad Inc.:

  • Right to Access: You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, subject to limited exceptions under PIPA Section 23.
  • Right to Correction: If you believe personal information we hold about you is inaccurate or incomplete, you may request that we correct it.
  • Right to Withdraw Consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. Withdrawal may affect our ability to provide the Service.
  • Right to Challenge Compliance: You have the right to challenge our compliance with PIPA. We will investigate and respond to all complaints and, where a complaint is justified, take appropriate corrective action.

To exercise any of these rights, contact our Privacy Officer using the information in Section 10. We will respond to access or correction requests within 30 days, or notify you if an extension is required as permitted by PIPA.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may file a complaint with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta (OIPC Alberta) at www.oipc.ab.ca.

We will acknowledge receipt of privacy inquiries promptly and respond substantively within 30 days, unless a longer period is authorized under PIPA.

11. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a person under 18, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe we have collected information from a minor, please contact our Privacy Officer immediately.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the Service, or applicable law. Material changes will be communicated via email to the address on file or through a prominent notice within the Service no less than 14 days before the changes take effect.

Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of a revised Policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically.

The date at the bottom of this Policy indicates when it was last updated.
